Embroidery Hoop Ornament

AHHHH I can’t believe Christmas is almost here (okay, it’s not even Thanksgiving, but Christmas is almost here). I’m more excited than ever for Christmas because Margot is getting older. She’s still too little to actually understand what’s going on, but I understand and it makes me giddy!!

About a month ago I ran across My Pinterventures 2015 Ornament Exchange and knew I had to participate.  Erlene partnered 80+ bloggers to exchange ornaments and we want to share our creations or special finds with you! Today is actually day 11 of the ornament exchange, each day a group of ladies will be sharing their ornament tutorials or shopping trips to give you lots of holiday inspiration, so be sure to check back!

I was paired with Kristen from The Road to Domestication. Kristen let me know that her style is bright and glittery…this is completely different than something I would normally create, but I was up for the challenge! So I headed to Michael’s, and after walking around aimlessly for awhile I finally came up with the perfect idea…

What you will need:

  • 2 3 inch embroidery hoops
  • red paint
  • red glitter
  • Mod Podge
  • paintbrush

Step 1: Take the 2 embroidery hoops apart so that they look like this:

Step 2: Paint the 4 rings red

Step 3: Mix the glitter with some watered down Mod Podge and paint the glitter mixture on the hoops.

It’s hard to see the sparkle, but it’s there!

Step 4: Put the hoops together. I put three together like you see below and then one around the center. We kept the screws attached to the 2 hoops and tightened them all the way to make everything secure.

And here’s the finished ornament! This was a very simple ornament to make and the idea could be used for so much more than just an ornament. In fact, I think I’ll make some bigger ones and stain them for an every day decoration.

Make sure to visit the other bloggers who are revealing their ornaments today!
